MEMCO Twenty
Tomasz Maher, College of Engineering
Collaborators: Noah Jackson, Stamps; Bianca Trihenea, Taubman
The purpose of MEMCO’s dual magazine/album release is to showcase our members’ skills at their widest range. While our focus at MEMCO is on music, the music scene involves much more than auditory experiences. The magazine will feature written articles, essays, art works, comics, photography, and investigative oral history. The album will showcase the wide array of rhythms, harmonies, compositions and experience levels of our members. Electronic music is an immensely broad genre, and MEMCO artists occupy styles ranging from atonal noise to envelope-pushing techno and immersive ambient soundscapes. Because our group is run and maintained by creatives, the arts are the sole basis for all of our ventures. With MEMCO Twenty, we hope to display every artistic talent at our disposal.
In order to bring the project to fruition, we will make use of the multivaried talents of MEMCO’s current members. We have talented audio engineers (Tomasz Maher) and graphic designers (Noah Jackson, Bianca Trihenea) who are eager to work on making the magazine and album as polished as possible. Additionally, our club’s board is committed to organizing events and handling logistics quickly and efficiently.
Like all MEMCO events, we hope that this project will raise awareness about the vibrant Ann Arbor underground electronic music scene While many people are interested in electronic music, they have no outlet to express their passion. If MEMCO is able to get people involved through collaborative events like this, it helps to expand the community. Additionally, our panel will be free and open to the public, so all members of the community will be able to attend and learn about our history.
