Milk and Moons is an interdisciplinary installation fusing sound, scenic design, writing, and illustrated comics into one complex exploration of love. Milk and Moons follows along four characters, exploring and investigating the meaning and action of loving, how it changes over time.
This piece invites the audience to dive into the comic characters lives, to watch them live the growing pains of changed perception, while being immersed in the bedroom of the main character. This installation of a bedroom will hold personal valuables for the main character as a viewer will learn throughout the comic series.
Through the room you will be able to find written excerpts from the main character, visual 2D animation on the bedroom TV, and audio immersion through the final characters band.
This multisensory experience will give viewers the experience to touch and feel anything in the room, being able to create their own stories and thought process on what love means to them throughout each and every part of the immersive experience.
This is a heavily art-driven project. .The text-based narrative, 2D artwork, textile feel and enclosure of the installation, and music creates a very interdisciplinary experience.
Collaboration across disciplines is essential to Milk and Moons, with team members from different fields coming together to create a unified experience. I will be teaming up with two members of SMTD. And also be asking for permission on recording/audio mixing studios from the school of music. With the help of facilities and undergrads from multiple schools and disciples, the components of milk and moons will maintain the level of creativity I aspire for. With a group of skilled collaborators to learn from, gives the opportunity to create a larger impact than what any of us could have created individually.
Strong communication is key. By maintaining clear and positive communication within the team, I can effectively lead this project and address challenges proactively.
General Timeline will include finalizing design and concepts for the fall semester. Collecting found material and paint, building, and finishing writing and comics will all take place during the winter semester In time for the Senior show.
This installation is set to be completed by June 2025 and will be showcased at the STAMPS Independent project Exhibit in mid April to early May 2025.
I hope to advocate queer and gender representation while articulating love as a strong connecting force. Our wide skill set-from comic illustrator to installation to music production give milk and moons the multifaceted context it needs. Making our group ready to produce an engaging reflection on human connection.
