Sea++ is an immersive audio-visual experience hosted in the Davis Studio of the Moore Building on November 16 from 10 am to 8 pm. Within the space, a digital ocean fills the room, dotted with flickering CRT TVs and other relics of outdated technology.
The atmosphere feels familiar yet strikingly new, as if the virtual world of files, memories, and programs stored in the Cloud has seeped into our physical realm. It’s calm and expansive, though hints of instability surface unexpectedly.
Visitors can engage with various elements of the exhibit via the website (accessible through a QR code at the entrance) and interact through motion capture technology.
The exhibition will open with a live performance by SMTD musicians from 10 to 11:30 am.
This exhibit was inspired by Zhang’s experience in the ArtsEngine Art/Sci Residency Program with Professors Amy Chavasse & Matthew Thompson from SMTD.
