John Comes Home
Wilson Plonk (SMTD)
John Comes Home is a 20 minute dance/theater piece following John, a boy coming home from his first year of college. As he sits in a hospital waiting room, he listens to six musicalized voicemails that he ignored over his time away. Through this medium, he learns that his mother was being both verbally and physically abused by his step-father (as well as threatening John) and John was both unaware and unable to help. John’s reactions to these discoveries, through ballet and modern dance styles, take a hard hitting look at the inner lives of those adjacently affected by abuse and what ramifications come from abandoning those you love in a time of need.
