New Heirlooms

This project explores contemporary African culture, as it exists among black immigrants in the U.S. Using the anthropological concept of the discursive tradition as a lens, I will design functional serving ware that captures African customs while allowing for adaptive iterative use. My intent is to create new family heirlooms that can grow through generations.
